About this Research Topic
Another critical focus is on developmental pathways and patterning, including mechanisms that establish body axes, regional specification, and morphogen gradients, as well as processes involved in organ formation and differentiation. Comparative studies provide evolutionary perspectives on conserved and divergent developmental mechanisms across different species, highlighting the evolution of new developmental processes.
Technological advances are also a significant component, showcasing innovations in live imaging, microscopy, single-cell sequencing, and CRISPR technologies, which enable detailed study of developmental processes. Overall, the section addresses molecular and genetic regulation, mechanical forces in tissue shaping, developmental signaling pathways, evolutionary insights, and cutting-edge technological innovations in the field of developmental biology.
The ‘Editors’ Showcase’ collection series aims to highlight and celebrate the latest advances in research across the field of cell and developmental biology, with articles from the members of our accomplished Editorial Boards.
This editorial initiative of particular relevance, led by distinguished Associate Editors of the ‘Morphogenesis and Patterning’ section of Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, the latest discoveries, recent advances, and future perspectives in the field of Morphogenesis and Patterning. We solicit brief, forward-looking contributions from the editorial board members that describe the state of the art, outlining recent developments and major accomplishments, that have been achieved and that need to occur to move the field forward. Authors are encouraged to identify the greatest challenges in their sub-disciplines, and how to address those challenges. The goal of this special edition Research Topic is to shed light on the progress made in the past decade and on future challenges to provide a thorough overview of the field, but also to inspire, inform, and provide guidance to researchers in the field.
Different article types are welcome including, but not limited to, perspective, opinion, (mini)-reviews and original research articles. More information at this link.
