Biosensing devices play an increasingly significant role in medical diagnostics and disease monitoring by using bio-molecular electronics to understand biological systems' functions and properties. This sub-discipline of biomedical engineering focuses on designing innovative medical devices and tools to identify and address health issues, thereby improving health outcomes. High-quality applied and translational research in biosensors and bioelectronics bridges chemistry, engineering, nanotechnology, and biology, making substantial contributions to biomedical sciences and healthcare. Additionally, artificial intelligence technology (AIT) has been widely applied across various industries. The demand for AI has grown alongside the rapid development of biology, medicine, engineering, and clinical care. AIT aids in clinical diagnostics and decision-making, enhancing the design, manufacturing, and processes of medical devices. However, challenges remain in precisely applying AIT to the biosensors, and improving the accuracy and reliability of intelligent medical devices.
The objective of the present Research Topic is to collect original studies or review articles in the field of artificial intelligence in the design, development and manufacturing of biosensors and devices especially. These studies are expected to address the major challenges in the upgrade and utilization of AIT in biomedicine, medical apparatus and instruments, and clinical treatment.
This Research Topic will accept original research and review articles that cover areas including, but not limited to:
1. Development and control algorithm of intelligent biosensors;
2. Biosensors and devices based on new biological model, principle and method;
3. Artificial intelligence in biomedical imaging and diagnostics;
4. Applications of artificial intelligence in drug discovery and development;
5. Intelligent surgical robotics based on biosensors and devices;
6. Artificial intelligence in healthcare management and decision support.
7. Intelligent manufacturing of intelligent biosensors and devices.
Keywords:
Intelligent Biosensors, Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, Biomedical Imaging, Drug Discovery and Development, Surgical Robotics
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
