About this Research Topic
Several significant new ancillary services have been developed in recent decades to deal with these challenges. However, advanced technologies are still needed to cope with uncertainties, such as: extreme events like natural disasters; cyber-attacks; and other potential threats. Therefore, this Research Topic aims to attract leading researchers in the area of potential recommendations of ancillary services which can be offered by 100% renewable-powered electricity infrastructure.
Papers of various kinds on the following themes of interest are encouraged to be submitted to this Research Topic:
• Voltage and reactive power support,
• Frequency-active power control,
• Fault ride-through capability,
• Protection coordination,
• Harmonic mitigation,
• Fast storage systems,
• Energy storage systems,
• Virtual power plants,
• Black-start services,
• Contingency reserves,
• High-performance converters,
• Grid following and grid forming inverters,
• Electric vehicle integration.
