Health research and development (R&D) play a pivotal role in enhancing economic status and improving the quality of life for the population. In Ethiopia, there has been significant growth in the number of research institutes and universities, leading to an increase in research output. However, the policy frameworks, capacities, and processes that govern health research and development in Ethiopia remain underexplored.
This research topic aims to bridge the knowledge gap by providing a comprehensive analysis of the current state of health research and development in Ethiopia, examining both policy and process perspectives. We seek to elucidate the capacities for health R&D, including policy and regulatory frameworks, personnel, funding, laboratories, and guidelines. Additionally, we will explore the outputs and impacts of health R&D within the Ethiopian context.
