About this Research Topic
In the past decades, a host of exciting advances have been achieved in the field of immunological modulation by natural products. Therefore, understanding the potential effects and mechanisms of special natural products and derivatives on intestinal mucosal immunity will boost the discovery of novel strategies to tackle the puzzles present in intestinal mucosal immunity.
Hence, the present research topic aims to promote the research on natural products in regulating intestinal mucosal immunity to combat chronic inflammation, injured intestinal mucosa, immunometabolic disorders, tumorigenic pathologies, etc.
This research topic welcomes Original Research articles, Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, and Letters, including but not limited to the following subtopics:
1. Effects and mechanisms of natural products regulating intestinal mucosal immunity based on rigorous methodologies with proper in vitro and in vivo models;
2. Effects of natural products on immunometabolism in treating impaired intestinal barrier function;
3. The role of gut microbiota and its derived metabolites in natural products modulating the intestinal mucosal immunity;
4. Therapeutic effects of natural products against relative diseases by targeting intestinal mucosal immunity;
5. The target immune cells or signaling pathways involved in the modulation of natural products on intestinal mucosal immunity;
6. Applying innovative approaches including multi-omics, single-cell, CRISPR, system biology, bioinformatics, etc. to address the issues of this topic.
