Background

Vascular-related diseases, encompassing conditions affecting the heart, brain, and peripheral vascular system, represent a significant challenge to global health. Traditional diagnostic and treatment paradigms have primarily focused on conventional risk factors such as hypertension, cholesterol levels, and smoking. However, recent studies have highlighted the importance of non-traditional risk factors in vascular health, which are not yet fully understood or integrated into standard medical practice. The Beijing Vascular Health Stratification (BVHS) is one such framework that attempts to address these gaps by incorporating a broader range of risk factors. Despite these advancements, there remains a lack of standardized guidelines for evaluating and managing these non-traditional factors, which hinders the ability of healthcare providers to effectively prevent and treat vascular diseases. This gap underscores the need for a comprehensive approach that includes both traditional and emerging risk factors to improve patient outcomes and promote lifelong vascular health.

This research topic aims to establish guidelines for the assessment, evaluation, and management of non-traditional vascular health risk factors. By doing so, it seeks to provide healthcare professionals with a standardized reference for decision-making, thereby enhancing the understanding and treatment of vascular diseases. The research will focus on identifying novel insights into non-traditional risk factors and integrating them into existing medical frameworks. This approach is expected to lead to improved strategies for the prevention and management of vascular diseases, ultimately contributing to better patient care and outcomes.

To gather further insights into the complexities of vascular health, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

- Potential biomarkers for dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure caused by atrial fibrillation
- Risk factors and clinical indicators for aortic dissection
- Non-traditional risk factors of cardiovascular diseases
- Approaches to improve the prognosis of heart failure and rapid atrial fibrillation
- Treatment of patients with unstable angina pectoris
