Brain Pathology and Rehabilitation Mechanisms of Neuromodulation in Psychiatric Disorders

In recent years, much attention has been paid to psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mania, autism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Due to the complex neuropathological mechanisms of these disorders, the mainstay of treatment is medication, but antipsychotics may have little effect on improving cognitive function and clinical symptoms, or even increase cognitive impairment, which poses a number of challenges to clinical treatment and clinical care. Therefore, it is important to find new and effective treatments other than drugs to improve cognitive function and clinical symptoms of mental illness. Current electromagnetic neuromodulation methods can non-invasively stimulate the cerebral cortex, induce neurotransmitters, and modulate synaptic plasticity to enhance cognitive function and improve clinical symptoms. It is therefore crucial to understand the mechanism of action of these neuromodulation methods and their efficacy characteristics.

This Research Topic will focus on exploring the therapeutic efficacy and pathological mechanisms of rehabilitation therapy of neuromodulation methods of electrical and magnetic stimulation in psychiatric disorders, revealing the safety, reliability and standardization of the application of these neuromodulation methods, and providing a reliable experience for the early and precise diagnosis of psychiatric disorders and the clinical personalized treatment.
