About this Research Topic
This Research Topic intends to include the most relevant work in biomedical applications of bioengineered nano-biomaterials, from state-of-the-art contributions to critical reviews on the topic which will highlight the new advances in this field with an emphasis on bioengineered nano-biomaterials design, fabrication, modification, and integration with different manufacturing techniques. We aim to address the potential of employing these powerful technologies in the bioengineering and what technical challenges need to be overcome? We welcome researchers working in this area, from academia and industries, to submit full-length research papers, short communication, and review articles to meet the goal of this collection.
For this Research Topic, we welcome researchers working in this area, from academia and industries, to submit Original Research articles, Research briefs, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Methods, Perspectives and Commentaries that focus on the following topics:
• Fabrication and characterization of 2D and 3D bioengineered nano-biomaterials bearing drugs.
• Fabrication and characterization of nano-biomaterials -based drug delivery systems.
• Investigating the molecular mechanisms behind drug release from bioengineered
• Evaluating the correlations between nanofeatures (e.g. surface topography, porosity, mechanical properties, functional groups) and molecular behaviours of the healing-involved cells and elements.
• Modifying the specific properties of bioengineered nano-biomaterials to manipulate a certain therapy step.
• Developing novel nanobiomaterials as the carrier for local and controlled
• Developing facile, fast, and efficient production process for nanobiomaterials.
• The application of modeling techniques such as molecular dynamics, docking, and quantitative structure–activity relationship models (QSAR models).
• Host response to nano-scale engineering materials and devices
