About this Research Topic
This Research Topic invites submissions of original research articles and review papers that delve into the following critical topics:
1. Epidemiology of Cognitive Decline and Dementia: We seek studies that reveal the incidence and prevalence of cognitive decline and dementia among the elderly in both developing and developed countries. These studies should provide insights into the socio-economic, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to these conditions, as well as the disparities between different regions.
2. The Influence of Early Life on Cognitive Health: Research examining the long-term effects of childhood circumstances on the incidence of cognitive decline and dementia is of paramount importance. We encourage submissions that explore the impact of early life experiences, including education, nutrition, and socioeconomic status, on later cognitive health.
3. Lifestyle and Behavioral Interventions: Effective interventions that can reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia are crucial for promoting healthy ageing. We welcome studies that evaluate the efficacy of lifestyle changes, such as physical activity, diet, and social engagement, in adults with normal cognition or mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
4. Cognitive Trajectories and Prediction Models:
Understanding the cognitive performance trajectories in aging populations is essential for early detection and prevention strategies. We invite research that analyzes long-term cognitive performance data and develops predictive models for cognitive decline.
We welcome both qualitative and quantitative methodologies that contribute to our understanding of these complex issues. The goal of this Research Topic is to foster a comprehensive dialogue among researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and the public, with the aim of developing evidence-based strategies to enhance cognitive health and well-being in older adults.
We look forward to receiving your submissions and are committed to publishing high-quality research that will inform and inspire action towards a healthier future for our aging populations.
