The field of Lab-on-a-Chip has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, driven largely by
advancements in miniaturization technology and a growing need for precise, efficient, and cost-effective
solutions in biomedical research and healthcare. Micro/nano sample preparation techniques have
emerged as critical components in a variety of biomedical downstream applications – from diagnostic
assays and drug delivery systems to tissue engineering and personalized medicine. These techniques offer
precise control over small volumes of biological fluids, cells and micro/nanoparticles, enabling highly
sensitive analyses and manipulations at the microscale. In the biomedical field, sample preparation and analysis are particularly suited for a range of applications. These are: cell separation in rapid disease diagnosis; concentrating small molecules for downstream analysis; microscale liquid handling for precise dosage control; micromixing for accelerated sample preparation; Sensing for rapid sample detection and analysis, etc.
