Although socioeconomic health inequalities are well studied and there is a plethora in the literature on this topic, in the era of digital health, socioeconomic inequalities can exacerbate disparities if equity is not at the forefront of digital health solutions. The aim of this Research Topic is for authors (researchers and policy makers) to communicate studies conducted across the globe in addressing socioeconomic inequalities in digital health. The goal is not only to raise awareness but also to suggest solutions which can be implemented into practice in order to tackle socioeconomic inequalities in the era of digital health. The ultimate goal is to disseminate best practices that enable empowered communities through inclusive digital health solutions and policy initiatives.
We welcome studies (analytical, descriptive, experimental, meta-analysis, observational, review, qualitative) tackling socioeconomic inequalities in the following areas but not limited to: access to technology (remote and rural), digital (health) literacy, telemedicine, virtual care, wearable technology, data privacy, health apps, lessons learned, safety of digital health technologies, digital health and vulnerable population (women, older adult, children, migrants, people with chronic illness).
Keywords:
Socioeconomic determinants, inequalities, digital health, policies
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
