The aim of this research topic is to present the novel concepts and challenges in rehabilitation treatment of pediatric population.
Pediatric rehabilitation presents complex treatment methods across different ages from newborn period to adulthood. During this period child goes true various stages of development and growth. Certain factors can influence both growth and developmental processes, thus affecting optimal development in childhood. Some of these factors are inherited, while others are acquired. The necessity for optimal treatment decision within pediatric rehabilitation usually includes multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. The pediatric rehabilitation treatment is usually consisted of various physical therapy procedures along with occupational therapy and speech therapy. In recent time novel treatment approaches are getting special attention in rehabilitation of this population including robotics, virtual reality, and assisted devices. Additionally, pediatric rehabilitation treatment can be personalized, and patient oriented with individual assessment of improvement as well as withing specific targeted groups where other interactions such as social, communicational, and other connections might be more in focus.
In this research topic we welcome original and review articles as well as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and randomized-controlled trials.
