About this Research Topic
Cognitive decline in aging is influenced by various factors across mental, sensory, physical, and lifestyle parameters.
The research topic focuses on an in-depth understanding of factors influencing cognitive function and decline in aging.
Our scope is to shed light on the complex interplay between mental, sensory, physical, and lifestyle parameters and their impact on cognitive health in aging populations.
In recent years, the exploration of various facets contributing to cognitive decline has become pivotal.
We are seeking research articles that investigate crucial elements and their roles in influencing cognitive health among the elderly.
Topics of interest may include, but are not limited to:
• The relationship between mental health, i.e. depression, anxiety and stress, as well as stimulation, cognitive activities, with cognitive performance/decline
• The impact of age-related sensory loss (vision, hearing) on cognitive function and decline
• Exploring the connection between physical health, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, and cognitive function and impairment
• Lifestyle factors such as sleep, diet, exercise/physical activity, education, social contacts/activity and their significance in mitigating or exacerbating cognitive decline
• Artificial intelligence tools and cognitive decline in aging: personalized risk estimation and prevention strategies
• Factors affecting the complex relationship between cognitive function and performance on activities of daily living.
We invite the following types of articles contributing to a deeper understanding of these interrelated parameters and their implications for cognitive health in older people: Original Research, Systematic Review, Methods, Review, Mini Review, Hypothesis and Theory, Perspective, Data Report, Brief Research Report, General Commentary, Opinion, Technology and Code, Study Protocol.
Keywords: Neurocognitive disorders, Cognitive decline, Aging populations, Lifestyle factors, Artificial intelligence tools
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
