About this Research Topic
Numerous studies have established the critical role of RNA in a broad range of diseases including COVID-19, neurological diseases, and various cancers. Therefore, targeting RNA harbors profound potential to expand the “druggability” of the human genome. On the other hand, the development of small interfering RNA (siRNA), RNA interferences (RNAi), and mRNA vaccines have shown RNA as not only disease targets, but also therapeutics themselves. Collectively, the complex yet important role of RNA demands further studies from multiple aspects.
The goal of this Article Collection is to present recent advances in the field of RNA-related research with a focus on translational values to accelerate the development of RNA-based and RNA-targeted biomedical applications in the field of epigenomics and epigenetics. The emphasis of this collection is on the dynamics of change and evolution of the latest progresses made, as well as on the evolving methods and responses in research across the field of RNA. We welcome original research articles, systematic review, meta-analysis, clinical case studies, and review articles within the scope of the research topic. The articles may cover, but not limited to, the following topics:
•RNA based application in epigenomics and epigenetics.
•RNA modification in genetic development.
•Development and application of siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides, RNAi
•Delivery tools and methods for oligonucleotides.
•Other therapeutic tools targeting RNA including small molecules, RNA editors, etc.
•Development and application of mRNA-related vaccines and therapeutics.
