About this Research Topic
The main goal of this Research Topic is to address the obstacles hindering the successful translation of potential therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. By bringing together experts from diverse fields, we aim to identify key areas that require attention and propose innovative strategies to overcome these challenges. Our focus will be on elucidating the factors that impede the progression of promising therapeutic candidates from bench to bedside. By doing so, we hope to provide a roadmap for researchers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical companies to facilitate the development and implementation of effective treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
This Research Topic invites contributions addressing various aspects of translating therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Specific themes of interest include, but are not limited to:
- The development and utilization of model systems, including in vitro and animal models
- Novel therapeutic approaches, including small molecules, biologics, gene therapies, and cell-based therapies
- Innovative testing modalities, such as biomarkers, imaging techniques, and non-invasive assessments
- Overcoming regulatory and ethical challenges in preclinical and clinical translation
- Strategies for optimizing clinical trial design and patient selection
- Translational success stories and lessons learned from both successful and unsuccessful therapies
We encourage the submission of original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and opinion papers from researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals working in the field of neurodegenerative diseases and translational medicine. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, this Research Topic aims to accelerate the development of effective therapies and ultimately improve the lives of patients affected by neurodegenerative disorders.
