About this Research Topic
The structure and function of forest ecosystems are highly complex and dynamic. Forests play a pivotal role in biodiversity, climate adaptation, and human well-being. Because of their longevity, forests experience increasing stresses from climate change and human activities, e.g., environmental pollution, making it imperative to understand their responses and dynamics to ensure effective conservation and management. This Research Topic provides a platform to consolidate knowledge, fostering a comprehensive understanding of forest ecology and dynamics under the scenario of climate and environmental changes to ensure the sustainability and scientific management of forest ecosystems for future generations.
To provide a concentrated collection of research findings on the responses of trees, forests, and forest ecosystems to changes in climate and other environmental conditions, Frontiers in Plant Science is launching a new series of Research Topics focusing on the latest advancements of discoveries, methods, processes, and techniques in forest ecology. We seek contributions exploring the changing context and the rising new perspectives concerning forest biodiversity, conservation, and ecosystem resilience. We hope to inform, inspire, and provide direction and guidance for future research in this field.
