About this Research Topic
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) encompasses different clinical disorders, a range of pulmonary physiologic abnormalities, diverse chest imaging, as well as different associated biomarkers. The different clinical categories illustrate the complexity of the pathogenesis of ARDS and highlight personalized medicine approaches. Identifying phenotypes of ARDS and integrating this information into patient selection for clinical trials may increase the chance for efficacy with new treatments.
This Research Topic aims to discuss ARDS pathophysiology, pharmacological therapies, mechanical ventilation strategies, chest imaging, as well as identification of biological phenotypes, focusing on different phenotypes.
All kind of manuscripts (original articles, narrative review, systematic review, brief research reports, opinions) focusing on ARDS pathophysiology, personalized pharmacological therapy, mechanical ventilation strategy, biomarkers, and chest imaging are welcomed.
Keywords: ARDS, biomarkers, pharmacological therapies, mechanical ventilation, monitoring
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
