World No Tobacco Day, celebrated annually on May 31st, serves as a powerful global platform to raise awareness about the detrimental consequences of tobacco use. By dedicating a special article collection to explore the effects of tobacco and nicotine on the brain, we can contribute significantly to the growing body of knowledge in this field and encourage informed decisions regarding tobacco consumption.

In order to be considered for publication in the collection, all manuscripts must strictly adhere to the guidelines that have been set for conducting research on specifically defined substances in plant extracts, ie tobacco: see here the Four Pillars of Best Practice in Ethnopharmacology. We also expect that the MS follow the standards established in the ConPhyMP statement Front. Pharmacol. 13:953205.
