About this Research Topic
Of particular concern are the emerging pollutants, as they progressively pose greater hazards to human health and the environment. It is necessary to thoroughly examine exposure assessment and health effects related to various environmental pollutants. Furthermore, it is very important for the identification of genetic and epigenetic biomarkers when exposed to environmental pollutants. Thus, this Research Topic serves as a platform to shed light on advanced mechanisms of toxicity, public health risk assessment, innovative control methods, and novel processes for both traditional and emerging pollutants.
This Research Topic aims to encompass original research articles, reviews, and opinion pieces that explore the present state of environmental health, Public Health and Health Impact Assessment, Environmental Health and Risk Assessment, Environmental Toxicology and Biodiversity, and the interrelationship between environmental health status and key health outcomes. Through this Research Topic, we aim to emphasize the importance of environmental health within the field of public health.
We welcome a series of original research, reviews, syntheses, and systematic review articles from researchers in the field, covering a wide range of topics such as:
• Toxic characteristics of environmental pollutants.
• Genetic mechanisms and epigenetic modifications of environmental pollutants.
• Public health implications of emerging environmental pollutants.
• Development of new tools for measuring and assessing public health risks.
Keywords: toxicity, molecular mechanisms, environmental pollutants, health risk, assessment
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
