About this Research Topic
Keeping the above idea in mind, this research topic focuses on the fabrication of sustainable and novel polymer composites for smart and multifunctional applications. Studies on different types of polymers like thermoplastics, thermosets, or elastomers-based composites are invited for this special issue. Moreover, the special focus on polymer composites based on rubber or elastomers is welcomed for this issue. Then, the improved properties of elastomers with attention to vulcanization could be addressed. Finally, the improved mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties could be fitted for prospects for smart and novel applications.
Overall, this special issue offers scope for multi-functional roles of composites based on different classes of polymer and offers industrial-oriented research as summarized in the following points.
• Different classes of Polymer composites as host matrix.
• Different types of properties such as mechanical, electrical, thermal, or barrier properties.
• Multi-functionality aspects of polymer composites such as strain sensing, flexible and sustainable batteries, wearable electronics, or self-powered electronic devices etc.
• Benefits of smart technological devices such as lightweight, softness, mechanical toughness, and sustainability.
• Addressing challenges such as poor mechanical, electro-mechanical, or biomechanical stability and their remedies.
