About this Research Topic
Attention will be dedicated to the research touching challenges in the electrochemical, material, physical and electrical science, engineering fields and application in hydrogen, fuel cells and their interconnection.
This Research Topic calls for high-quality reviews, perspectives and original research articles about the science and applications of the following topics, but not limited to:
1) Fuel Cells
• Types of fuel cell: PEMFC, DMFC, SOFC, PAFC, AFC (AEMFC)
• Materials and components: catalysts and their supports, GDLs, MPLs, EAs, bipolar plates, membranes, ionomers
• Modelling design, optimization: materials, cells, stacks, systems
• Applications: mobile, stationary, portable, specials
2) Hydrogen
• H2 production: Electrolysis (PEMEC, SOEC, AEMEC), reforming, photolysis, anaerobic
• H2 storage: compressed gas, cryogenic liquid, metal hydride, chemicals, container
• H2 transport: trucking, pipeline, railway, ship
• H2 infrastructure: fuelling station, distribution centres
3) Inter-connection
• Hydrogen economy: BEV vs. FCEV, Hybrids
• On board H2 storage
• Lifecycle analysis: round trip efficiency of H2 & electricity generation, environmental impact assessment
• Renewable energy resource coupling: SOFC-SOEC, PEMFC-PEMEC
