About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to provide updated insights on the various challenges towards developing fungal and parasitic vaccines. This collection of articles also intends to offer comprehensive strategies for fungal and parasitic vaccines already in the pipeline or the pre-clinical development phase. Moreover, the success stories of already approved vaccines such as those for malaria in Africa, and lessons learnt will also pave the way for future vaccines of a similar kind, and will help guide public health experts on how these can best be utilized to benefit vulnerable populations.
We welcome the submission of original research, reviews, systematic reviews, perspectives, clinical trials, and opinion articles focusing on, but not limited to, the following subthemes:
- Fungal vaccines against invasive and endemic fungal infections
- The prospect of vaccines against parasitic diseases of the tropics and subtropics
- New strategies for fungal and parasitic vaccine development
- Control of parasitic diseases in livestock through vaccination
- The success story of malaria vaccines in Africa
- Clinical trials of fungal or parasitic vaccines
- Role of immunoinformatics in fungal and parasitic vaccine development
- Future of fungal and parasitic vaccines in the era of mRNA technology
- Overcoming the apathy for fungal and parasitic vaccines and addressing the immunity and meeting real-life challenges
