We are delighted to present the Rising Stars in Tuberculosis and Mycobacterial Diseases: 2023 article collection. This collection will showcase the high quality work of internationally recognized researchers in the early stages of their careers. We aim to highlight research by leading scientist of the future across the entire spectrum of tuberculosis and mycobacterial diseases, and shed light on the remarkable advances they are making. By focusing on compelling problems within the field of mycobacterial diseases, these rising stars are pushing the boundaries of knowledge and paving the way for ground-breaking solutions.
This Research Topic welcomes research covering, but not limited to, the following areas:
• Diagnosis
• Basics on the immunology of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections
• Biology of mycobacterial pathogens and their interaction with the host
• Therapeutic advances
• Epidemiology
• Vaccination
• Prevention and surveillance efforts
Early career researchers are defined as within 12 years after completing their Ph.D., M.D., or other equivalent terminal degrees, and up to 37 years old. We ask that the first or last author on the manuscript meets the criteria of an Early career researcher.
