About this Research Topic
The basic biological interest is to understand the mechanisms of progression of cardiovascular dysfunction. Currently, there is an urgent need to develop a novel, and efficient approach for the treatment of CVDs. Ferroptosis is iron-dependent programmed cell death caused by excessive accumulation of iron-dependent lipid reactive oxygen species and the imbalance of redox homeostasis. Recent studies have confirmed that ferroptosis is associated with the development of CVDs and may be a potential therapeutic medicine target for CVDs.
This Research topic will mainly focus on the development of novel therapeutics, diagnoses, translational studies, and advancements in cardiovascular disease. Its core interest is to identify a basic molecular and cellular mechanism for discovering novel targets in cardiovascular research. The studies should focus on the mechanisms for progression and occurrence of cardiovascular disease and ideas for the development of novel inhibitors to resolve cardiovascular problems.
We welcome original research, systematic reviews, mini reviews, perspectives, clinical trials, case reports, and data reports. Topic of interests includes, but are not limited to the following:
• Mechanism of cardiovascular disease
• Novel therapeutics, diagnoses, and advancements in cardiovascular disease
• Discovering novel targets in cardiovascular research
• Ferroptosis role in cardiovascular disease and cardiac dysfunction
