As a response to these challenges, smart city design has emerged as a transformative approach to urban development. By integrating advanced technologies, data analytics, and community participation, smart cities strive to enhance resource efficiency, improve inhabitants' quality of life, and reduce the ecological footprint of metropolitan areas.
This Research Topic aims to delve into the ramifications of urban population growth and explore the effectiveness of smart city approaches in promoting sustainable urban development. It will cover the assessment of short and long-term urbanization effects, the role of smart technologies in urban planning, and the influence of governmental policies on sustainable urban growth.
