These receptors are integral to a multitude of physiological processes, including reproduction, development, metabolism, energy balance, angiogenesis, and neuro-immuno-endocrine responses. They achieve this by interacting with various ligands such as steroids, fat-soluble hormones, and growth factors. The communication facilitated by NRs between the endocrine system and other bodily systems underscores their importance in maintaining homeostasis. However, the dysregulation of NRs can lead to detrimental effects, contributing to various pathological conditions. Recent studies have highlighted the protective role of certain NRs against acute and chronic inflammatory responses, suggesting their potential as therapeutic targets. Despite these advances, there remains a significant gap in understanding the full complexity of NR-mediated regulatory mechanisms and their implications in health and disease, necessitating further investigation.
This research topic aims to explore the intricate neuroimmunoendocrine regulatory mechanisms involving Nuclear Receptors. By compiling and systematizing studies on NRs' roles in both physiological and pathological states, the research seeks to enhance the development of this field. The objective is to expand our understanding of potential therapeutic strategies for disorders linked to NR dysregulation and to explore how NRs contribute to the modulation of endocrine and neuro-immuno-metabolic responses.
