About this Research Topic
The mid-IR laser radiation has the advantage of high atmospheric transmission. Moreover, strong absorption peaks of many molecules are located in this spectral range. Therefore, the mid-IR laser radiation offers a number of applications of growing importance such as remote sensing, medicine and homeland security et al. This Research Topic aims at reviewing the progress in this technical field.
This Research Topic encourages papers about the novel research, technology, and in particular the advanced methods and novel applications of mid-IR lasers. Review articles which describe the current research status are also encouraged. Potential fields include, but are not limited to the following:
• Middle infrared solid-state lasers
• Middle infrared fiber lasers
• Middle infrared lasing performance
• Nonlinear optical frequency conversion
• Semiconductor lasers
• Novel laser materials
• Supercontinuum
• Frequency comb
• Lidar
• Space optical communication
• Trace gas detection
• Optical microscopy
• Biomedicine
