The collection will cover a broad range of topics related to using retinal imaging techniques to understand neurodegeneration in the central nervous system. Neurodegeneration, a process marked by the gradual decline in neuronal integrity resulting in dysfunction and neuronal death is a hallmark of many chronic and incurable neurological disorders. It has a key role in the development of permanent deficits whether as a main process in primary neurodegenerative diseases or as a consequence of an inflammatory or other mechanisms. The retina's access to non-invasive examination by a variety of imaging techniques is an invaluable source of insight into the pathophysiology underlying these disorders and retinal measures can serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers.
