Pediatric oncology significantly differs from adult oncology, typically involving embryonal tumors characterized by rapid growth and substantial size upon diagnosis. These tumors predominantly require an integrated approach of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiotherapy. Recent advancements have pushed the overall survival rate to approximately 80% across tumor types, a notable achievement in medical oncology. Though traditional open surgery remains predominant, the last decade and a half have seen a gradual shift towards minimally invasive techniques. This evolution aligns with the principle of treatment de-escalation, aiming to reduce long-term treatment sequelae in young patients.
