About this Research Topic
The Internet of Blockchains is the idea that various blockchains harmonize based on crosschain interoperability to build an Internet of Values. To achieve this, various methods have been proposed recently.
We invite contributions from many fields to tackle crosschain interoperability between various blockchain systems including web2-type private and permissioned chains and web3-type public ones. In this research topic, selected articles that provide state-of-the-art results in this field and informative references for both academic researchers and industrial practitioners will be provided.
We welcome submissions addressing crosschain interoperability on the following topics:
- System and protocol designs of interoperable blockchain
- Inter-Blockchain Communication
- Crosschain communication protocols
- Crosschain consensus protocols
- Multi-layer consensus
- Crosschain bridges
- Relayer
- Aggregation of bridges and relayers
- Layered interoperability
- Blockchain sharding
- Chainless interoperability
- Crosschain function call protocols
- Crosschain message passing
- Crosschain smart contract
- Crosschain applications
- Crosschain decentralized finance
- Crosschain incentive design
- Crosschain security
- Shared security
- Performance evaluations of decentralization, security, and scalability
- Systematization of Knowledge (SoK) in blockchain interoperability
