About this Research Topic
Health Technology Reassessment is a term used to reassess technologies that currently exist in the healthcare system. This is done in a structured, evidence-based way that considers the clinical, social, ethical, and economic effects of a technology, ensuring it is being used optimally. It can lead to recommendations of dis-investment, de-implementation, and de-adoption of healthcare technologies. Often, these recommendations are difficult to translate into practice. Therefore, we invite researchers to submit studies in the application of health technology reassessment of drugs and medical devices in healthcare through their disinvestment (completely or partially withdrawing health care resources), de-implementation (process where the use of low-value care is reduced or stopped) and de-adoption (discontinuation of a clinical practice after it was previously adopted).
In particular, we investigate how we can reassess healthcare technologies and implement recommendations to disinvest, de-implement or de-adopt effectively to ensure the effective translation of drug knowledge and optimal use of medical devices in healthcare. We welcome submissions of original research articles and review papers.
