About this Research Topic
The emergence of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. including A. baumannii, A. calcoaceticus, A. lwoffii, A. pitti, A. johnsonii, and others, has been widely reported and become a global threat to clinic. The available treatment options are limited, generally restricted to colistin, tigecycline, or cefiderocol. Notably, Hospital-acquired infections associated with carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. are on the rise, posing a concerning increase in resistance rates. However, there is a paucity of reported information regarding the novel resistance mechanism and genome characteristics based on whole genome sequencing (WGS).
This Research Topic focuses on the novel resistance mechanisms and the PK/PD of antimicrobial agents against carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp.. Moreover, attention is given to genome epidemiology, evolution, clone change, and novel plasmids structure carrying different resistance genes.
Specifically, we welcome Original Research articles, Reviews, Brief Research Reports, and Mini-Reviews that cover, but are not limited to, the following topics:
-Novel resistance mechanism of carbapenem, colistin, and tigecycline
-Genome characteristics and epidemiology of Acinetobacter spp. isolated from patients or environment
-WGS-based clone change locally or worldwide
-Structure feature and evolution of novel resistance plasmids
-Pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) of antimicrobial agents against carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp.
