With the urgent need for global sustainability, smart technologies are becoming a key driver for sustainable development in areas such as energy, transportation, agriculture, and waste management. Smart technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics have great potential to increase efficiency, reduce resource consumption and improve decision-making. To fully exploit the role of smart technologies, we need to explore in depth their concepts, the benefits, and challenges of implementing smart technologies for sustainable development, and the role of government policies and regulations in driving the development and adoption of sustainable smart technologies.
This topic attempts to comprehensively define the scope of smart technologies for sustainable development in the areas of energy, transportation, agriculture, and waste management, and to provide an in-depth analysis of their role and impact in each area. At the same time, the benefits, and challenges of implementing smart technologies for sustainable development are assessed.
This Research Topic welcomes submissions on, but is not limited to:
1) the concepts and applications of smart technologies, especially in the areas of energy, transportation, agriculture, and waste management specifically. This includes but is not limited to, smart energy management systems, smart transportation systems, smart agriculture, and smart waste management.
2) The benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of sustainable smart technologies, including aspects such as cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency improvements, resource conservation, and environmental benefits. However, this topic also focuses on challenges such as data security and privacy protection, technology maturity, technology standards, and sustainability awareness.
3) The role of relevant regulations in facilitating the development and adoption of sustainable smart technologies.
Keywords:
Smart Technology; Sustainable Development;Smart Technology Regulations;Empirical Analysis;Environmental Economics
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
