About this Research Topic
Despite the significant progress in manufacturing sustainability, strategic integration for energy conservation in the production sector is underexplored. As the manufacturing systems differ in scale, product variety, and flexibility, among other attributes, there is little consistency and coordinated ways of energy-saving to support a system-wide strategy. This Call for Papers (CfP) primarily focuses on cutting-edge technologies and methodologies of integrated energy monitoring, evaluation, and optimization in distributed manufacturing systems to provide deeper insight into energy utilization and energy saving in production industries. Such technologies and methodologies enable managers and stakeholders to be cognizant of the total energy consumption at different manufacturing facilities and value chain stages to identify opportunities for enhancing energy efficiency in the supply chain.
Articles on energy-related monitoring, evaluation, and optimization in manufacturing systems have been targeted for this CfP with the research topics related to advanced energy monitoring techniques, theories, novel evaluation and decision-making methods, as well as optimization strategies. We welcome a variety of manuscript types, like original research papers, reviews, case reports, etc. This research topic covers (but is not limited to) the following themes:
