Background

Cardioneurology is an emerging interdisciplinary field that bridges the gap between cardiology and neurology, focusing on the intricate interactions between the heart and the nervous system. Despite significant advancements in both cardiology and neurology, the complex interplay between these two systems remains underexplored. Current research has highlighted the importance of understanding how neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases impact cardiovascular health, and vice versa. Recent studies have shown that conditions like atrial fibrillation can increase the risk of stroke, while heart failure can lead to cognitive decline. However, there are still many unanswered questions regarding the mechanisms underlying these interactions, the best diagnostic approaches, and the most effective treatments.   A team of guest editors (called topic editors) lead their Research Topic. This editorial team oversees the entire process, from the initial topic proposal to calls for participation, the peer review, and final publications.

  The team may also include topic coordinators, who help the topic editors send calls for participation, liaise with topic editors on abstracts, and support contributing authors. In some cases, they can also be assigned as reviewers.
