About this Research Topic
In this research topic, special attention will be given to the current issues and developments in EMS systems and closely related areas of patient care. We welcome contributions on a range of topics including, but not limited to:
• EMS action to take account of evidence-based practice
• Patient safety improvement - both in emergency medical services and at the sector boundaries of outpatient or clinical patient care
• Initiatives and methods to enable the continuous competence development of EMS personnel
• Decision-makers, policymakers, payers, stakeholders, and system responses to the challenges of emergency medical services
• Building a sustainable development of integrated health and care systems
• Technological innovations and disruptive developments that impact patient safety
• Translating techno-ethical aspects of patient safety into a culture of safety
We welcome scientific contributions from emergency medical service systems, application, education, and health care systems research that have a supra-regional relevance or that can be transferred across system boundaries. Animal studies are excluded.
