About this Research Topic
Frontiers has organized a series of Research Topics to highlight the latest advancements in research across the field of cognition. This editorial initiative of particular relevance, led by Prof. Petra Jansen, Specialty Chief Editor of the 'Cognition and Movement' section and Prof. Dr. Philipp Tomporowski, University of Georgia, is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, latest discoveries, recent advances, and future perspectives in the field of cognition and movement.
The Research Topic solicits forward-looking contributions that describe recent developments and major accomplishments that have been achieved and that highlight theory-based questions that will move the field forward. Authors are encouraged to identify the greatest challenges in conducting cross-discipline research, and how to address those challenges.
This research topic will especially welcome submissions that investigate the relationship between motor and cognitive processes under a holistic approach. Relevant topics include:
-the interconnectedness of motor, cognitive, and social-emotional development, and the benefit of cognition through exercise, sports, performance arts, and music practice.
-studies that investigate the relationship between motor and cognitive processes besides the cognitive processes of executive functions and spatial abilities.
Keywords: Cognitive psychology, movement, cognitive development, consciousness, motor tasks, social-emotional development, memory and learning, attention, neuroscience
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
