About this Research Topic
This Research Topic focuses on advanced nanomaterials-based technologies, including metal oxides, metals, quantum dots, metal–organic frameworks nanostructures, carbon nanotubes, graphene, composites as nanosorbents, nanomembranes, nanocatalysts, and sensors. This includes using distinctive properties of nanomaterials such as catalytic activity, crystallinity, size, surface area, aspect ratio, porosity, reactivity, selectivity, and innovative technologies with a focus on effective treatment of polluted water and detection of emerging contaminants through nanomaterials sensing. The main aim of this research topic is to seek high-quality manuscripts that highlight nanomaterials-based strategies to address the progress of water purification processes, including synthesis of novel nanomaterials, characterization, detection, and removal of inorganic, organic, and biological emerging contaminants.
We welcome Original Research, Review, Mini Review and Perspective articles on themes including, but not limited to:
• Role of advanced nanomaterials, mode of action, and their characterization techniques
• Synthesis of nanomaterials for the removal of emerging contaminants from water;
• Synthesis of nanomaterials for the detection of emerging contaminants from water;
• Innovative nanotechnologies for capturing emerging contaminants from water
Keywords: Nanomaterials fabrication methods and characterization, Impacts of emerging contaminants and health effects, Advanced water treatment technologies, Optical and electrochemical sensing
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
