Diet and Healthy ageing is an area of great research interest due to the important impact of diet on the prevention of NCDs, and the fact that the number of older people is increasing in society. Healthy ageing is also closely linked to cognitive decline and dementia, and other age-related conditions such as frailty and sarcopenia. Inflammation, metabolic alterations, reduction in physical function and physical strength are important factors for healthy ageing.
In the research topic, we want to focus on how a healthy diet, food groups or dietary compounds and other lifestyle factors such as physical activity can affect cognitive decline and dementia, and other age-related conditions such as frailty and sarcopenia.
In the research topic, we want to focus on how diet and physical activity can affect age-related conditions such as frailty, sarcopenia, cognitive decline and dementia. Since precision prevention has emerged as a paradigm to improve health in the post-genome era, we are particularly, but not exclusively, interested in papers focusing on healthy ageing and the interpersonal differences in response to food and physical activity. This implies also the underlying mechanisms causing differential responses. We want to focus both on human studies, and animal experiments, and authors can submit both original papers and reviews.
