Behavioral economics is a burgeoning field that examines the psychological, cognitive, emotional, cultural, and social factors influencing economic decisions. In the context of household decisions related to sustainability and innovation, this field is particularly relevant as households are pivotal in driving sustainable development. The current problem lies in understanding how households make decisions that impact environmental sustainability, social equality, and economic prosperity. Questions arise about the factors influencing these decisions and how innovations can be effectively integrated into daily life to promote sustainability. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of behavioral models in understanding these decisions, yet gaps remain in comprehensively addressing the psychological and social barriers to adopting sustainable practices and innovations. While some research has explored the role of cognitive biases and decision heuristics, there is a need for more in-depth investigation into how these factors can be leveraged to encourage sustainable choices and innovation adoption.
This research topic aims to advance the understanding of household decision-making processes concerning sustainability and green innovation adoption through the lens of behavioral economics. The primary objective is to explore the psychological and economic factors that influence households' choices and identify strategies to promote environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices. Key questions include identifying the barriers to adopting sustainable innovations and understanding how behavioral strategies can facilitate this transition.
