About this Research Topic
There is well known underrepresentation of minority groups in cardiology. Multiple studies have proven that having a balanced workforce in the field of medicine improves the overall outcomes and patient satisfaction. Despite multiple efforts by leading organizations such as ACC/AHA, there is still a persistent gap. A continued effort is required in this area in order to bridge this gap.
This Research Topic will put a spotlight on the disparities and underrepresentation of underrepresented ethnic and minority groups in cardiology with an aim to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the field of cardiology. Starting from the early stages of medical school this Research Topic will investigate all stages, moving forward to residency, fellowship, and sub-fellowship.
