About this Research Topic
Early career researchers whose work is featured in the collection will be those recognized for their success and potential to influence future directions, and are within 10 years of completing their PhD. In exceptional cases, current PhD candidates will be considered.
Early career researchers featured in the collection will be selected by the editorial team following nominations by Frontiers readers, members of the broader community, or by the editorial team itself. For the initial roll-out, the collection will be restricted to 10 papers, with early career researchers serving as first or last author on the published paper. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
In recognition of their contribution to the field, early career researchers whose work is included in the collection will receive a Frontiers Rising Star award, that will provide a 50% discount on the Open Access publishing fee for their paper published in the collection. Any authors whose institution or funder cannot cover the remaining cost of the publishing fee are encouraged to apply to the Frontiers Fee Support Program, details of which are available on the Frontiers website and from the Frontiers team upon request.
At the end of the collection, an Outstanding Contribution prize will be awarded to the most influential article in this collection. The winner's article will also be broadly showcased on Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution’s website and social media channels. Nominations (including self-nominations) for inclusion in the collection should include the early career researcher’s Curriculum Vitae and a 200 word abstract of the manuscript to be submitted to the collection. Abstracts will be received until July 30, 2023, and applicants will be notified shortly thereafter.
Please submit your CV's and abstracts directly to the Journal Manager Emma Phipps (emma.phipps@frontiersin.org). Please note that these will be treated confidentially.
