Energy citizens could help accelerate clean energy transitions. This Research Topic focuses on the instruments and best practices to enhance the effective involvement of energy citizens in the climate agenda. This collection will explore potential solutions to engage end-users as energy citizens, such as innovative financing, business models, digitalization, and new regulatory frameworks to empower prosumers, behavioural interventions, energy living labs, and tailored information campaigns. It is also essential to ensure the inclusive engagement of energy citizens, identifying solutions that can help people experiencing fuel poverty and vulnerable categories of end users.
