About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to advance our understanding of the bioactive properties, analytical methods, and potential applications of these compounds as natural antioxidants. While the health benefits of consuming plant-based foods rich in polyphenolic and flavonoid compounds are widely recognized, there is still much to be learned about the mechanisms of action and potential therapeutic applications of these compounds. Furthermore, the isolation and characterization of these compounds can be challenging, and there is a need for more robust analytical methods to accurately quantify and identify these compounds. Recent advances in the field of polyphenolic and flavonoid research have included the development of new extraction and isolation techniques, as well as the exploration of the bioactive properties of individual compounds and their synergistic effects in complex mixtures. Additionally, there have been efforts to modify and synthesize these compounds to enhance their bioavailability and therapeutic potential. By bringing together experts from various fields, this Research Topic aims to promote collaboration and exchange of knowledge to address these challenges and advance our understanding of the antioxidant potential of polyphenolic and flavonoid compounds. Ultimately, this research can lead to the development of novel functional foods, nutraceuticals, and therapeutic interventions that can improve human health and well-being.
