A new generation of elderly people is emerging as a broadly heterogeneous group with very distinct behaviors. Some will have to deal with a few illnesses, while the challenge for others will be to live with multiple diseases, take various medications, and have mobility limitations. Many older adults have incurable but treatable diseases. Their ability to cope with challenges imposed by diseases and limitations will be crucial since they can worsen over the years.
This Research Topic highlights cutting-edge expertise from internationally recognized contributors across the globe dedicated to studying behavioral facets of aging.
Manuscripts include in-depth reviews or meta-analyses covering basic to clinical sciences. Basic science articles may, but not exclusively, concentrate on biological mechanisms of aging or age-associated diseases, biomarkers of aging, and cellular and molecular biology. Clinical science articles may, but not exclusively, encompass clinical research, epidemiological studies, health promotion, hospital- and community-based interventions, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, and translational research.
Keywords:
Aging, elderly, geriatrics, gerontology, older adult
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
