About this Research Topic
The goal of this Research Topic is to bring together a collection of papers that individually and collectively addressed the role of new therapeutic targets aimed at attenuating the residual cardiovascular risk of individuals with diabetes. Papers dedicated to investigating the prevention of cardiovascular events in diabetes targeting any of the wide range of deleterious pathways involved in diabetes-related macrovascular complications (eg., endothelial dysfunction, glucose control, cardiac and renal remodeling) are welcome.
We welcome the submission of manuscripts including, but not limited to, the following topics.
Special focus will be given (but is not restricted) to:
• Randomized clinical trials using novel drugs capable of attenuating residual cardiovascular risk of individuals with diabetes.
• Large observational studies aimed at identifying new markers of cardiovascular disease progression in diabetes.
• Experimental studies dedicated to investigating new mechanisms involved diabetes-related vascular complications.
• RCTs or observational studies that evaluate residual cardiovascular risk in diabetes.
Keywords: Diabetes, Residual Cardiovascular Risk, Atherosclerosis
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
