About this Research Topic
On the other hand, despite recent advance in the field, the interplay between nutritional processes and immune system is incompletely understood. Particularly, specific cellular and molecular immune responses invoked by food components and the role of the gut barrier and microbiota on the interaction between the immune system and nutrition remains to be fully elucidated. This research topic focuses on mechanistic, translational and clinical research on the interplay between foods, nutritional components and immunity in both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. We welcome submissions of both original research and review articles that address the issue of “Immunomodulatory functions of nutritional ingredients in health and disease”, including the roles of, but not limited to: microbiota, dietary fibers and probiotics.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
