About this Research Topic
The goal of this Research Topic is to explore the biomarkers that are being used to assess health and disease in saliva. Novel approaches in the discovery and detection of saliva biomarkers are welcomed, as well as a wide range of disease types either found or manifested in the mouth. Studies exploring the validation of proposed biomarkers and potential clinical applications of saliva as a diagnostic tool are also of interest.
Articles on the following topics are welcome:
-Discovery of molecules in saliva for detection of health and disease;
-Detection methods for monitoring biomarkers in saliva;
-Biomarkers for oral, and systemic diseases as detected in saliva;
-Biomarkers for monitoring oral treatments (that may not be described as disease but modulate the oral cavity)
-Evaluation of salivary biomarkers
-Clinical application of saliva as a diagnostic tool
Keywords: Salivary Biomarkers, Oral and Systemic Diseases
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
