About this Research Topic
Despite this wealth of knowledge, our understanding of hormone function, their mechanisms of action, and tight regulation of their levels in the body as well as different organs and tissues, evolve continuously. It is essential to understand and summarize all the aspects regarding the regulatory mechanism and the function of these hormone molecules, especially during the developmental process.
This Research Topic aims to provide new insight into the function and molecular mechanisms of hormones in regulating normal and disease development. It seeks to advance our understanding of the interactions between hormones or their receptors and other regulators of cell function. We also encourage the discussion of translating new basic research findings into potential therapeutic or preventive strategies for hormonal disorders and related diseases. We anticipate that the research presented will broaden our understanding of the role of hormones during development and their functional regulation.
We welcome submissions of Original Research, Reviews, Mini-reviews, and Perspectives that cover, but are not limited to, the following subtopics:
• Novel effects and mechanisms of hormones in development and physiological processes;
• New findings regarding regulation of hormone production by physiological and biological signals and exogenous perturbations;
• Novel actions of hormones in disease development;
• Function and regulatory mechanism of hormones or their receptors in energy homeostasis, growth and reproduction;
• Newly discovered hormones and their regulatory mechanisms.

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
