About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to conduct scientific research and exchange from the perspectives of clarifying the drivers behind carbon reduction, investigating the synergistic mechanism between the low-carbon economy and sustainable development, and then exploring the pathways to low-carbon development. Through comprehensive research and comparative analysis of the relationship between low-carbon economy and sustainable development, we will verify the feasibility of innovations and updates of carbon reduction applications for sustainable development; provide scientific strategies in terms of low-carbon economy for sustainable development; design technical routes and propose corresponding policy recommendations.
This Research Topic, with the theme "Low-Carbon Economy and Sustainable Development: Driving Force, Synergistic Mechanism, and Implementation Path", mainly focuses on but is not limited to the following six directions:
(1) Research on influencing factors and pathways (including green transportation, application of clean energy, low carbon lifestyle) for carbon reduction realization;
(2) Application of energy-saving, emission-reduction techniques and their impact on low-carbon development;
(3) Pathways to enhance carbon sequestration and spatial reductions in agriculture;
(4) Promotion and application of renewable energy and their effects;
(5) Trade-offs of carbon reduction, resources sustainable utilization, and economic development;
(6) Synergistic mechanism and realization paths of low-carbon development and poverty reduction.
Empirical studies and results from inadequately investigated regions in Asia, Africa, and South America and regions with advanced practices on low-carbon development are highly welcome.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
